Chapter 10. Authorization in dCache

To limit access to data, dCache comes with an authentication and authorization interface called gPlazma2. gPlazma is an acronym for Grid-aware PLuggable AuthorZation Management. Earlier versions of dCache worked with gPlazma1 which for now comes as the default plugin for gPlazma2. So if you are upgrading, you will most likely not even notice you are using gPlazma2. You should however take some time to get to know gPlazma2’s easier configuration, its more powerful architecture and newly supported mechanisms. Also, future versions will not support gPlazma1 anymore, so it is a good time to get familiar with the new version.
